Affordable Tanning Bed
Finding an Affordable Tanning Bed for Your Home
Tanning beds are very popular in the United States, so
popular in fact that many people have long sought to put
tanning beds in their homes so they can tan in the
privacy and comfort that the home affords them.
Until recently, however, this option was available only
to the very wealthy because the cost of tanning beds has
traditionally been somewhat prohibitive. Affordable
tanning beds started to become a reality when the first
residential tanning beds were introduced. While still
costly enough to be considered luxury items, residential
tanning beds signaled the creation of a new sub-market
in the tanning industry: home tanning.
Now tanning bed manufacturers had to create models that
were appropriate not only for commercial tanning salons,
but they had to make affordable tanning beds for the
home market as well.
Of course, what constitutes an affordable tanning bed
depends largely on the point of view of the one buying
the bed in the first place. A person making three
hundred thousand dollars a year may consider a fifteen
thousand dollar tanning bed to be affordable while
someone making fifty thousand per year sees a fifteen
thousand dollar tanning bed as a new car or a big chunk
of his mortgage. It’s all, as Einstein would say,
relative.
Of course a fifteen thousand dollar tanning bed in
today’s market is a middle-quality commercial bed as
companies are making more affordable tanning beds for
residential use all the time. While they’re still
expensive, they can now be purchased for a few thousand
dollars in most cases, about the same price as a big
screen TV. This makes them much more attainable and
affordable to the middle class.
There are certainly other options for seeking affordable
tanning beds as well. Many salons, for example, rent
their tanning beds from manufacturers rather than buy
them. When it’s time to upgrade to a new model, the
manufacturer typically can not rent all of the old
models anymore (everyone wants the new ones, after all)
and will instead sell them as used.
A used tanning bed purchase can be a good way for
someone to put a professional quality tanning bed in her
home, albeit a two or three year old model in most
cases. Renting is another way to put an affordable
tanning bed in your home as well. Manufacturers and
dealers that previously would rent to salons and
commercial interests only are now opening their doors to
the residential tanning market, realizing that there is
a definite consumer interest that they can meet.
A tanning bed may be a luxury item, but with today’s
affordable tanning beds they have become a luxury that
many can afford. People that once would only be able to
dream about owning a tanning bed can now make those
dreams become a reality by purchasing or renting an
affordable tanning bed. They may still be costly, but
not any more than a number of items that consumers buy
for pleasure, cosmetic purposes, or convenience.
Affordable tanning beds actually meet all three of those
goals, goals which many of us share.
